Tournament Schedule

Big Fish Friday — July 10, 2026
6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pre-Fish Friday — Get on the water and figure those Kings out!! Teams can enter the Big Fish Friday and pre-fish with a chance to win.
4:00 PM
Weigh-In — Biggest individual weight from Pre-Fish Friday.
Evening
Mandatory Briefing — Final rules review and Q&A for all registered teams.
Tournament Day — July 11, 2026
5:00 – 5:30 AM
Boat Check — All boats inspected before launch.
6:00 AM
Blast Off — All teams hit the water. Tournament officially begins.
2:00 PM
Back to Marina — All boats must return to the red buoy at the inner marina (near gas dock) by 2:00 PM.
2:30 PM
Weigh-In — Drybox only. No water, ice slurry, or tampering.
4:30 PM
Awards & Expo — Awards ceremony, food, and Expo.

Shootout Format

Standard "Three Box"
Main Division

Weigh your best three (3) Salmon. Winner determined by total weight. This is the main division for all teams.

* Top 7 teams paid out.

Extreme "Five Box"
Optional

Weigh five (5) Salmon with a minimum size of 20 inches per fish. Must be entered in the Three Box Division to qualify.

Salmon from the Three Box will be used in the Five Box.

* Top 3 teams paid out.

Scoring: Each qualifying fish earns 10 points + 1 point per pound of total weight.
Big Fish
Optional

Heaviest individual Salmon of the tournament. Each team receives zip ties to tag any big fish being weighed.

* Top 3 teams paid out.

Friday Pre-Fish Big Fish
Optional

Heaviest individual Salmon caught during pre-fish.

* Top 2 teams paid out. (1st 60%, 2nd 40%)

Official Rules & Regulations

Eligibility & Registration


All anglers must be properly registered and paid in full before launch.

Extreme Box participants must be entered in the Three Box Division.

All participants must hold valid Ontario fishing licenses.

All waivers must be signed and completed prior to commencing the tournament

Tournament Rules


All anglers must follow Ontario fishing regulations.

Fish must be caught during tournament hours. Chinook & Coho Salmon only.

Blast off takes place at the Port Whitby Pier Head @ 6:00 AM.

Teams must return to the red buoy at the inner marina (near gas dock) by 2:00 PM.

Maximum of 6 rods per team.

No transferring fish between boats.

Fish must be presented in a drybox in natural condition — no water, ice slurry, mutilation, or gutting. Coolers must have zero water when in line for weigh-in.

Tournament officials may inspect boats, coolers, and equipment at any time. Refusal results in disqualification.

Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.

Closed communication is in effect from shotgun start to conclusion — no communication with any outside persons is permitted, with the exception of emergency calls or contact with the Tournament Director.

In the event of a breakdown, the Tournament Director must be notified immediately. Fishing ends, and the existing box is transferred to weigh-in.

All salmon entered into the Tyee Takedown also qualify for the GOSD. If a fish is weighed into the GOSD before tournament end, Tournament Directors must be notified, and the fish can return to the team's box for continued fishing.

Blow Day: In the event of inclement weather (e.g. thunderstorm or winds) the Blow Day will be Sunday, July 12th. Same details from Saturday will be pushed to Sunday. Decision will be made at the Captains meeting on Friday, 6 P.M.

Tournament Waters


Fishing restricted to Canadian Lake Ontario waters only.

No fishing in rivers, creeks, or restricted zones.

All boats must depart from and return to Port Whitby Marina.

Late Penalty

Late arrivals to weigh-in incur a penalty of one pound per minute late. After 15 minutes, the team is disqualified.

Protests

Any protests must be filed immediately after weigh-in. Tournament Director decisions are final — no exceptions.

All protests require a $100 fee. If successful, the $100 will be refunded.

Conduct

Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in disqualification. All anglers must follow safe boating practices at all times.
